DeMarcus Cousins trade rumors are a now yearly occurrence, and Tuesday brought a fresh new batch of Boogie rumors, with Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops reporting that the star big man is drawing “significant” trade interest from the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls.
However, Scotto noted the Kings have little intention of trading Cousins at the moment, and USA TODAY Sports’ Sam Amick reported similar on Wednesday morning. Amick also said Kings general manager Vlade Divac has indicated the phones haven’t been “ringing off the hook.”
Furthermore, Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald said Wednesday the Celtics haven’t had any recent discussions about Cousins. So as of right now, it seems like there’s nothing remotely close to brewing.
The Kings have been a respectable team with Cousins on the court this season, so it makes sense for them to hold on to him as they try to work their way back up the Western Conference standings, especially since they’re only a game out of a playoff spot.
If things proceed to go off the rails from here, perhaps Sacramento would be more open to moving Cousins. But for now, they should stay the course.
