Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard has been battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot this season, and Lillard aggravated the injury during the third quarter of the Blazers’ loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday, according to Jason Quick of CSN Northwest.
Lillard finished the game with 32 points and insisted the injury isn’t a big deal, but he left the locker room with a noticeable limp and won’t play in Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks. It’ll be Lillard’s first missed game of his career, ending a streak of 275 straight games played. C.J. McCollum is also out with an ankle injury.
Out in Boston, forward Amir Johnson is also dealing with a bout of plantar fasciitis. Johnson didn’t participate in practice this past weekend, and it’s unclear if he’ll play in Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to ESPN’s Chris Forsberg.
Like Lillard, Johnson has been dealing with the injury for a while. He’s been getting treatment for a few weeks and was in a boot over the weekend.
With the forward’s availability in question, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens may be forced into making rotation changes he was already considering.
