Games to Target

Portland at Sacramento (Over/Under 208): This is by far the game to target on this four-game slate. It’s one of the more competitive contests and it features a pair of great plays in C.J. McCollum and DeMarcus Cousins. The Vegas total is also the highest on the slate.

New York at Boston (O/U 201.5): This is the only other game with a spread under 10 points, with the Celtics being favored by 7.5. You have to be somewhat interested in Carmelo Anthony for the Knicks, while guys like Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder draw my interest on the Boston side of things.

News and Notes

  • David Lee (back) is a game-time decision. He sat out last night, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him out again tonight. This is still a situation I’m likely to avoid.
  • Danilo Gallinari (ankle) and Emmanuel Mudiay (ankle) are both out for the Nuggets tonight. Kostas Papanikolaou and Jameer Nelson should start for them, respectively. Papanikolaou is a punt option at a top-heavy small-forward position.
  • Ed Davis (ankle) is questionable and Damian Lillard (foot) doesn’t expect to return until Wednesday. Davis being out could open up value on the Trail Blazers, while Lillard being sidelined gives C.J. McCollum considerable upside.

Point Guard

Stud to Target

Isaiah Thomas, BOS ($7,700): There are three options I like atop the point-guard pool, but there’s little reason to pay up past Thomas unless you have extra cash left over. The Knicks don’t have a defender who will be able to slow IT2, and his price is quite favorable.

Others to consider: Russell Westbrook, OKC ($10,400) – Rajon Rondo, SAC ($8,400)

Value Play

Lou Williams, LAL ($5,200): I don’t care for any of the “values” at point guard, but Lou Williams has the best shot to be one at his price. He’s been bad in his last two as the Lakers have struggled to be competitive, but has otherwise been strong recently.

Shooting Guard

Stud to Target

C.J. McCollum, POR ($7,200): It sounds like Damian Lillard is going to be out again tonight, so C.J. McCollum gets to play point against one of the league’s worse defenses. He’s the clear-cut option at shooting guard for me, and I’m making a point to pay up to get him.

Others to consider: Will Barton, DEN ($7,000)

Value Play

Avery Bradley, BOS ($5,100): I think more people will stick with Allen Crabbe for $500 less, but I prefer Bradley despite the two being similar players. In lineups I can afford it, I like Bradley more because we’ve seen his upside as a scoring threat for the Celtics, and simply put, he’s a better player than Crabbe.

Small Forward

Stud to Target

Kevin Durant, OKC ($10,000): The only question mark with Durant these days: can the opposing team make it worth his while? The Nuggets could easily get rolled over tonight, especially on the second night of a back-to-back. Still, it’s conceivable that KD could get his in a short period of time considering his team’s dependency on him.

Others to consider: Carmelo Anthony, NY ($8,200)

Value Play

Omri Casspi, SAC ($5,900): Casspi isn’t priced like a value any more, and you can argue that he’s even overpriced. But at less than $6K, you’re getting a guy who will likely see over 30 minutes and have a shot at 30+ DraftKings points as a result.

Power Forward

Stud to Target

DeMarcus Cousins, SAC ($9,900): Under $10K for Cousins is a steal, especially in a matchup that should be rather easy for him to dominate. And while he’s the top player in terms of salary, it’s shaping up as Cousins and the field in terms of the top power-forward play of the night.

Others to consider: None

Value Play

Kyle O’Quinn, NY ($3,400): This is where we’re at with values on this slate. O’Quinn isn’t a safe play by any means, but he’s received 20 or more minutes each game over his last three. When he gets time, he’s a double-double threat who can contribute a few assists as well.

Center

Stud to Target

Marc Gasol, MEM ($7,300): He’s the only stud at center on this slate, and he draws one of the best matchups on the board. You already know the Lakers are atrocious, so there’s little sense in being concerned about Gasol’s pair of duds in his last two games.

Others to consider: None

Value Play

Meyers Leonard, POR ($3,700): If Ed Davis sits, Leonard becomes the value play of the night at only $3.7K. He’s definitely still usable even if Davis plays, coming off back-to-back 20 DK point games and having three such scores in his last four.
