Paul Pierce decided to speed up the process of becoming a Back In My Day All-Star with his comments about Kevin Durant joining the Warriors, and Draymond Green, as one might expect, had a response.

Pierce initially tweeted his reaction back in July…

and added to it on Thursday, saying to SiriusXM (h/t HoopHype), “I could have left Boston years ago but I stuck it out. I just feel like when you’re that close as a competitor, you don’t go join the team that just pushed you out. That’s just me personally but we’re living in a day and time where there’s a new generation. Guys I don’t think they are as hungry or competitive as my generation was, and that’s why you’ll probably see more of that.”

Green responded just hours later with lengthy thoughts, both about how Pierce should mind his own business and describing Durant as the CEO of his own corporation:

Green’s emotion is no surprise, though it is a little startling to see him come and call “so many guys” out for being “so stupid.”

Overall, this back-and-forth won’t stoke the fire on this rivalry, both because the two teams already don’t like each other, but because Pierce likely won’t be on the court much to face Durant or Green anyway.
