The Washington Wizards will release Toure’ Murry and add Will Bynum on Friday, according to Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post.
The Wizards were reportedly going to sign Murry for the rest of the season, but then he sprained his ankle a day after signing his second 10-day contract, and Bradley Beal has since sprained his ankle as well. With Garrett Temple also nursing a strained hamstring, Washington needed some more help in the backcourt.
Bynum has been playing in China this season, and he has actually been dealing with a hamstring injury of his own, but he must be healthy enough to sign. The diminutive point guard played in the NBA last season with the Detroit Pistons, averaging 8.7 points and 3.9 assists while shooting 42.8 percent overall and 32.3 percent from three.
The Wizards have lost four games in a row and need all the scoring punch they can get. Ramon Sessions hasn’t been very good since coming over from the Sacramento Kings, and Washington’s offense in general has been bad the second half of the season.
