The Washington Wizards have made a pair of minor roster moves, signing swingman Jarell Eddie from the D-League and waiving big man Ryan Hollins.
Eddie, 24, has spent time with several NBA teams, but he’s never gotten in an NBA game. He played for the Wizards in 2014 Summer League and signed with the Atlanta Hawks twice last season. He then played for the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs this past summer before going to camp with the Golden State Warriors.
Eddie didn’t make the Warriors and went back to the D-League’s Austin Spurs, where he also played last season. He averaged 14.1 points and 4.0 rebounds in 11 games with Austin.
Washington signed Hollins at the end of November, but he only appeared in five games and averaged 1.6 points in about 10 minutes per game. He hadn’t played since Dec. 5 despite the Wizards being ravaged by injuries, and Nene and Drew Gooden are expected to return soon.
Washington is currently dealing with numerous injuries in the backcourt and on the wing, so adding Eddie for depth and dumping Hollins makes sense.
