The draft smokescreens are billowing all over the place, and Ohio State standout D’Angelo Russell has been involved with some of them. Ever since Russell missed a workout with the Philadelphia 76ers last week, the rumors started flying that the talented guard was really trying to avoid the Sixers in the draft.
We even got a report from Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times saying the “buzz” was that Russell didn’t want to play for Philly. Of course, this came shortly after Russell actually did work out for the Sixers and that he “loves Philly,” according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
There’s also this:
Contrary to reports, I'm told D'Angelo Russell would be thrilled to be play for Philadelphia. He says he had a great workout there this week

All of this is just peak NBA Draft Season. Contrary reports running amok all over the place. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?! I find it hard to believe Russell actuallys want to avoid the Sixers, because he’d slot in right away as their starting point guard and there is a plan in place, even if it’s taking a bit longer than some folks want.
