USA Basketball has extended a handful of new invites to an upcoming Las Vegas minicamp as the team prepares to set a team for the 2016 Summer Olympics, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.
The camp will feature several days of non-contact workouts before it wraps up with an “all-star game of sorts” on Aug. 13. That game will feature the best players in attendance who are healthy enough to participate.
However, if a player is interested in playing in the Olympics but not healthy enough to participate in the on-court activities, they’re still expected to attend the camp. Those players include guys like Kevin Durant, Paul George, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.
Team USA announced a 28-player pool last year to cover the next three summers, and that later ballooned to 34. Now these new names have been added and other former Team USA players could be invited to Vegas.
