Report: Tyrus Thomas Signs in Germany

Tyrus Thomas was hoping to be back in the NBA for this upcoming season, but the former No. 4 overall pick is instead signing in Germany, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears.

Thomas’s career has been a big disappointment after he was acquired by the Chicago Bulls on draft night in exchange for LaMarcus Aldridge. Thomas showed some flashes with the Bulls and Charlotte Bobcats, but injuries derailed his career.

Thomas hasn’t played more than 54 games in a season since playing 79 in 2008-09. He didn’t play a single NBA game in 2013-14, and he played in just two games last season for the Memphis Grizzlies.

At this point, Thomas’s NBA career could be over, although we shouldn’t count out a return. He’s still just 29 years old, and if he can prove himself overseas, perhaps some team will give him a chance in the future. He’ll never live up to his draft status, but that doesn’t mean he still can’t carve out a spot somewhere in the NBA.
