Trail Blazers’ Allen Crabbe Out 4-6 Weeks With Sprained Ankle

Portland Trail Blazers swingman Allen Crabbe will miss four-to-six weeks with a severely sprained left ankle, the team announced.

Crabbe suffered the injury in Wednesday night’s Summer League game in Las Vegas. The 23-year-old had been playing well in Summer League, averaging 15.5 points while shooting 53.2 percent overall and 43.8 percent from three.

Crabbe, the 31st pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, hasn’t contributed much to the big club in his two seasons. After appearing in just 15 games his rookie season, he saw a bump in playing time last year, appearing in 51 games and starting nine of them.

Crabbe averaged 3.3 points while shooting 41.2 percent overall and 35.3 percent from three last year. He played 38 minutes total in the first two playoff games against the Memphis Grizzlies (both blowout losses), but he didn’t see any time in the last three games.

With the Blazers now rebuilding, Crabbe will likely see an even more increased role next season. Hopefully he can recover from this injury quickly and try to carve out his niche in the NBA.
