Nets’ Thomas Robinson to Undergo Surgery on Torn Meniscus

The Brooklyn Nets coveted Thomas Robinson last season and were finally able to acquire him this summer, but Robinson had a setback when he suffered a small meniscus tear in his right knee, the team announced Tuesday. The 24-year-old will undergo surgery on Wednesday.

Robinson, the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, is already on his sixth NBA team. The Sacramento Kings traded him to the Houston Rockets in his rookie season, and he’s also been a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets. He didn’t play a single game for the Nuggets after being included in the Arron Afflalo trade, and the Sixers stole the forward away from the Nets after he agreed to a buyout with Denver.

Robinson has career averages of 5.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per game. He was pretty effective in Philadelphia, averaging 8.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in just 18.5 minutes per game.
