The Tulsa Shock of the WNBA are relocating to Texas next season, and the team’s new name and logo were revealed Monday on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington, which is where the team will play its home games:

The new Wings franchise began as the Detroit Shock in 1998. Under head coach Bill Laimbeer, the Shock won three WNBA titles and made it to one other WNBA Finals.
The team moved to Tulsa in 2010, and what followed was an extremely rough patch for the franchise. The team missed the playoffs five consecutive years and owned a winning percentage of just .240 over those five seasons, including one 3-31 season.
However, things are looking up as the franchise moves to Texas. The Shock went to the playoffs last year despite star Skylar Diggins playing only nine games due to a knee injury. With Diggins back alongside Odyssey Sims and Plenette Pierson, Dallas should be a strong team next season in its new digs.
