The Kings are Still a Mess

Kelley L Cox/USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings have been dysfunctional for quite some time now, and the Kings haven’t helped themselves with the DeMarcus Cousins trade nonsense. Well, the crazy just picked up another level with Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reporting Tuesday that Sacramento has talked to John Calipari about becoming head coach and head of basketball operations.

Keep in mind that George Karl still has three years left on his deal and Vlade Divac was just recently made the head of basketball operations. Of course, Karl is also supposedly driving the “Trade Cousins” bandwagon and ownership isn’t happy about that, with Vivek Ranadive reportedly looking for a way out of the deal.

Calipari, like he does every time these NBA stories come up, vehemently denied the reports on Twitter, and the Kings denied them as well:

I can’t imagine Calipari actually leaving his kingdom at Kentucky for the mess in Sacramento, but this is still just all so Kings.

Also so Kings is the fact that they’re going after Rajon Rondo and Monta Ellis:

Apparently Rudy Gay is pushing for Rondo, but both of these guys probably should be avoided by Sacramento. Of course, this means the Kings will almost certainly get one of them. It would be awesome if they got both, because a lineup of Rondo/Ellis/Gay/Cousins/Willie Cauley-Stein would be amazing.
