Suns Trade 3 Players To Pistons To Clear Cap Space For LaMarcus Aldridge

Today on “Guiding LaMarcus”…

The only return is merely a 2020 second round pick, according to Wojnarowski. Tyson Chandler‘s signing ate up their cap room, so, in their pursuit of LaMarcus Aldridge, the Suns were able to find a taker for some of their ancillary deals. For Detroit, it’s a pretty nice trade, getting Morris (albeit the lesser of the Morrii), a prospect in Bullock who never got much of a chance in Los Angeles before briefly playing in Phoenix, and Granger, who is a shadow of his former self but only has one year left on his deal at just over $2 million.

Once again, the Aldridge race looked to be down to Spurs vs Suns, and once again, things shifted:

Apparently this meeting will be more direct with Byron Scott about basketball, rather than a fancy presentation with Kobe Bryant in attendance. It’s unclear how the Lakers think talking strictly basketball will get their foot in the door, but self-awareness and the Lakers don’t always co-exist.

Speaking of once-great franchises…

What’s this, a new contender entering the ring?

It would be very hard for Miami to find a way to make room for Aldridge. That said…no team can ever feel comfortable when Pat Riley gets a meeting with their free agent target.

So, the situation has changed, yet it hasn’t really changed. This still appears to be a two horse race with the Lakers supplying some humor and a couple dark horses trying to make a last minute push as Aldridge thoroughly determines where to spend the remainder of his prime.
