A day after Spain and France advanced to the semifinals of EuroBasket 2015, Serbia and Lithuania punched their ticket with victories on Wednesday.
Serbia won the early game of the day, defeating the Czech Republic by a final score of 89-75. The game was close through the first three quarters, but Serbia took control in the final frame.
Zoran Erceg and Miroslav Raduljica combined to score 36 points off the bench for Serbia, while Milos Teodosic dished out 14 assists. Jan Vesely continued his strong tournament with a 23-point, 10-rebound showing for the Czech Republic.
The second game of the day was a thriller between Lithuania and Italy that went to overtime before Lithuania pulled out a 95-85 victory. The game was tight throughout, and both teams had a chance to win in regulation, but Lithuania pulled away in the extra period.
Jonas Valanciunas had a monster game, putting up 26 points and 15 rebounds in the win. Another Jonas, Jonas Maciulis, added 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Lithuania will face Serbia on Friday in the second semifinal game. Spain will do battle with France on Thursday. The winners get a spot in the final and an Olympic berth.
