The scuffling Washington Wizards are signing big man Ryan Hollins, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Shams Charania. To make room for Hollins, the Wizards will waive the injured Martell Webster, who’s likely out for the season after hip surgery and only has $2.5 million guaranteed for next season. His salary can be stretched to mitigate the cap hit.
Hollins joined the Wizards on Sunday. He’d been a free agent to start this season after being cut by the Memphis Grizzlies at the end of preseason.
Hollins has been around the block in his nine-year NBA career. If he appears in a game for the Wizards, it’ll be the eighth team he plays a game for. He appeared in 46 games with the Sacramento Kings in 2014-15, averaging 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game.
Washington currently sits at 6-8 on the season and is dealing with injuries to Nene and Drew Gooden, as well as a struggling Marcin Gortat.
