Report: Lamar Odom Fighting for His Life

Last night the former Los Angeles Lakers Sixth Man of the Year winner, Lamar Odom, was admitted to the hospital after being found unconscious in a brothel, according to numerous reports. He is currently at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he is fighting for his life.

Odom is alleged to have been on numerous drugs when he was found, according to Francesca Bacardi of E! News,

A source inside Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas tells us that “drugs were found in his system,” and doctors are treating the situation as an “overdose.” Lamar remains unconscious and on a ventilator but is still alive. It also appears that the former Los Angeles Lakers player suffered from a “loss of oxygen but also possible stroke.”

“So, likely there’s brain damage, but they’re not sure how much,” the source adds. “Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system.”

The report says that Odom experienced an “ischemic stroke.” According to Strokes Association, “Ischemic strokes occur as a result of an obstruction within a blood vessel supplying blood to the brain.” Medical studies prove that such strokes can be caused by cocaine abuse.

According to TMZ Sports, there was evidence that cocaine was specifically one of the drugs that Odom was using.

Lamar Odom had cocaine in his system and track marks on one of his arms … so claim witnesses at the hospital where Lamar lies unconscious.

The witnesses tell TMZ … doctors have determined the former NBA star had cocaine and opiates in his system — but it’s still unclear if the track marks are fresh or from previous drug use.

Among those who have visited Odom are former teammate Kobe Bryant and the Reverend Jesse Jackson.

If he does survive, there’s no telling what sort of quality of life he’ll have. It’s a dire situation regardless.
