Raptors Lose in Overtime After DeMar DeRozan’s Game-Winner in Regulation is Waved Off by Timeout

Sam Sharpe/USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors came so close to completing a big comeback on the road against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night. Down by 12 with under five minutes to play, the Raptors clawed back to tie the game at 90-90 with 25 seconds left.

Kemba Walker then turned the ball over, and DeMar DeRozan buried a 30-footer that could’ve won the game…

…only it didn’t count because the Raptors called a timeout:

The game subsequently went to overtime, where the Hornets took home a 109-99 victory. Jeremy Lin poured in a season-high 35 points, while Walker had 27. DeRozan had 31 points, but Kyle Lowry shot a woeful 6-of-29 from the field and 3-of-17 from three. Rough night for Toronto.
