Chicago Bulls big man Pau Gasol missed the Bulls’ 86-84 Game 4 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, and Gasol’s status is in doubt for Game 5 back in Cleveland because of his strained hamstring:
Thibs says Pau Gasol didn't do anything today — just rehab. Doesn't sound likely for Game 5.

The Bulls didn’t really miss Gasol when he left Game 3 with the injury, because both Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic stepped up big in his place. However, Gasol’s presence was missed in Game 4. Chicago went on two long scoring droughts that helped doom them, and having Gasol there would certainly have helped the Bulls get out of those ruts.
As good as Gibson and Mirotic were in Game 3, they were bad in Game 4. The duo combined to shoot 3-of-16 from the field, and Joakim Noah didn’t help matters by missing a bunch of bunnies at the rim. Mike Dunleavy also shot 1-of-7 from the field as the Bulls’ supporting cast around Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler had a rough game.
Chicago can win Game 5 in Cleveland without Gasol, but that supporting cast must play better if that’s going to happen.
