Houston Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley has a concussion and will miss Friday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings, according to Jenny Dial Creech of the Houston Chronicle.

Beverley suffered the injury in the Rockets’ victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. It’s unclear when he’ll return to the court, but he’ll have to pass the NBA’s concussion protocol to play.

Beverley is averaging 6.0 points and 3.8 rebounds in 19.0 minutes per game this season. He’s shooting just 38.7 percent overall, but he’s at a solid 37.5 percent from three. Known for his hounding defense, he’s averaging a steal a game but has had issues with foul trouble. Houston’s defense has really struggled to start the year, although it’s been better with Beverley on the court.

With Beverley out, Jason Terry will likely see a bit more time. The veteran has only appeared in three games and has made minimal impact.

Terrence Jones remains out with an eye injury.
