Pat Riley Throws Shade at LeBron James

It’s no secret that Miami Heat president Pat Riley was shocked when LeBron James decided to take his talents away from South Beach and back to his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers last summer. After the Heat suffered through a disappointing season that featured a lot of injuries and no postseason, it’s apparent Riley is still smarting from how things went down last offseason:

Of course, Riley tried to clarify and make it seem like he wasn’t talking about LeBron, although it’s blatantly obvious that he was:

There was plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Heat last offseason, even though Riley was confident until the very end. Moves were made with LeBron in mind, and as SB Nation’s Mike Prada notes, these comments bring some legitimacy to the rumors that Shabazz Napier was only picked in last year’s draft because LeBron was a noted fan of Napier at Connecticut.

Riley can deny this stuff all he wants, but it appears to be pretty clear that he’s still salty about James leaving Miami.
