The Denver Nuggets have waived point guard Erick Green in order to bring back forward Kostas Papanikolaou, the team announced Thursday.

The Nuggets initially acquired Papanikolaou this summer in the Ty Lawson trade. Papanikolaou was waived before his $4.8 million contract could be guaranteed, but now the 25-year-old is back to provide more depth on the wing with Wilson Chandler recovering from a hip injury.

Papanikolaou averaged 4.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 rebounds in 43 games for the Houston Rockets last season. Green only played 2.3 minutes per game in three appearances this season.

Papanikolaou will be available to play in thee Nuggets’ game against the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
