Nik Stauskas Out 2 Weeks With Right Tibia Stress Reaction

It’s only the preseason, but the injuries are already coming in. Nik Stauskas of the Philadelphia 76ers is the latest to throw his name on the growing list of those injured during the preseason.

Derek Bodner of Philly Mag tweeted:

Stauskas was acquired from the Sacramento Kings during the offseason for Carl Landry and Jason Thompson for Arutas Gudaitis, Luka Mitrovic and the right to swap picks in 2016-17.

Chosen with the No. 8 pick in the 2104 draft, the rookie had an unimpressive season, averaging 4.4 points and 1.2 rebounds per game in 15.4 minutes. He shot just 36.5 percent from the field, and in spite of his strength being his shooting, he was just 32.2 percent form deep.

Still, it’s not uncommon for players to see their efficiency go up in their second years as they learn the NBA game, and the Sixers, who were second-from-last in effective field-goal percentage at 45.9 percent last year can sure use whatever shooting help they can get.

Given the Sixers young roster, it’s a given that if nothing else, Stauskas will be getting more minutes to prove himself once he returns from injury.
