Nicolas Batum, C.J. McCollum Suffer Injuries for Battered Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are already without Wesley Matthews for the season, and both Arron Afflalo and Dorell Wright are going to miss time in the playoffs. LaMarcus Aldridge is also dealing with some nagging injuries, and things went from bad to worse in the Blazers’ 101-90 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night, as both Nicolas Batum and C.J. McCollum suffered injuries:

Chris Kaman also tweaked his back.

Batum likely won’t play in Portland’s season finale against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, and while X-rays were negative on his knee, he’ll likely get an MRI to make sure there’s no structural damage:

McCollum doesn’t believe he’ll need an MRI on his ankle, but he’s unsure if he’ll be able to play against Dallas. With the Blazers locked into the No. 4 slot in the Western Conference Playoffs and home-court advantage already shot, it would probably be best for him to sit out. McCollum has stepped up of late with Matthews sidelined, and Portland will need the young guard moving forward with all of these other injuries.

Even if neither of these injuries are serious, it’s still a tough time for the Blazers to be dealing with any new aches and pains heading into the postseason. Portland isn’t in great shape at the moment, and it’s looking like it could be an early exit in the playoffs if things don’t change quickly.
