Philadelphia 76ers big man Nerlens Noel suffered a left eye corneal abrasion in Sunday night’s 96-76 loss to the Toronto Raptors, and the injury forced Noel to go to the hospital. It’s unclear if he’ll be able to make the trip to Chicago for the Sixers’ game against the Bulls on Monday, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Noel played 18 minutes in Sunday’s game before leaving with the injury. He had two points, five rebounds, four assists and a block in those 18 minutes.
Noel has missed four games due to injuries this season, and his play has suffered thanks in part to his health issues. The 21-year-old is averaging 10.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and a block in 30.4 minutes per game. He’s shooting just 43.2 percent from the field and turning the ball over three times per game.
Noel’s regression is one reason why Philadelphia has started the season 1-24. He’s expected to be a big part of the team’s future, so the Sixers would love to see him get healthy and turn things around as quickly as possible.
