NBA Unveils 2015-16 Schedule

The NBA officially unveiled the 2015-16 NBA schedule on Wednesday night, and the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls open the season on Oct. 27 in Chicago. The nightcap will feature the Golden State Warriors hosting the New Orleans Pelicans. Both games will be televised on TNT. There will also be a third game that night, with the Atlanta Hawks hosting the Detroit Pistons on NBA TV.

Many of the big matchups leaked out prior to the official unveiling, including the five Christmas Day games. Here’s the full Christmas Day schedule (all times ET):

  • Pelicans at Heat, Noon, ESPN
  • Bulls at Thunder, 2:30 p.m., ABC
  • Cavaliers at Warriors, 5 p.m., ABC
  • Spurs at Rockets, 8 p.m., ESPN
  • Clippers vs. Lakers, 10:30 p.m., ESPN

Another big day on the NBA schedule is Martin Luther King Day, which is Jan. 18. Here’s the schedule for that day (all times ET):

  • Pelicans at Grizzlies, 2:30 p.m., ESPN
  • Magic at Hawks, 5 p.m., NBA TV
  • Warriors at Cavaliers, 8 p.m., TNT
  • Rockets at Clippers, 10:30 p.m., TNT

Some other schedule notes:

  • DeAndre Jordan will face the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 29 and make his first trip to Dallas on Nov. 11
  • LaMarcus Aldridge will return to Portland on Nov. 11
  • The Thunder open against the Spurs on Oct. 28 (the return of Kevin Durant), which is followed by Karl-Anthony Towns vs. D’Angelo Russell (and Kobe Bryant)
  • The first ABC Saturday night game will be Bulls at Cavaliers on Jan. 23
  • The Warriors and Cavaliers both have 25 nationally televised games (ABC, ESPN, TNT), the maximum number allowed
  • The 76ers, Nuggets and Pistons are the only teams without any nationally televised games on those three channels
  • The Warriors, Clippers, Rockets, Bucks and Pistons have a league-high 20 back-to-backs
  • The Timberwolves and Suns have a league-low 14 back-to-backs
  • There are 27 cases of a team playing four games in five nights, down from 70 in 2014-15
