Nike will be the NBA’s official apparel provider once Adidas’ deal is up after the 2016-17 season, but Under Armour will be the title partner of the NBA Draft Combine and the presenting partner of the league’s youth basketball program, Jr. NBA, according to Nina Mandell of For The Win.
The new deal will go into effect in 2018. Under Armour will develop a retail line of apparel for fans as the title partner of the Draft Combine. Meanwhile, the NBA is hoping its partnership with Under Armour will help expand its youth basketball program.
Under Armour just passed Adidas in apparel sales in the United States this past year, and this should only help Under Armour try to maintain its No. 2 spot behind Nike. Having Stephen Curry as a top endorser certainly doesn’t hurt either.
