NBA Fines Austin Rivers, Paul George

Gary A. Vasquez/USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers and Indiana Pacers forward Paul George were both fined by the NBA for different infractions on Thursday.

Rivers was docked $25,000 for throwing a seat cushion into the stands during the Clippers’ 111-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. Rivers threw the cushion in frustration during a fourth-quarter timeout, and it hit a female fan in the face.

Meanwhile, George is out $10,000 for criticizing the officials after the Pacers’ 106-99 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday (via Pro Basketball Talk):

“We felt like there were a lot of bad calls. Close games like that, let us play. You’ve got a guy like (Kyle) Lowry who’s down on one end doing what he wants and then on the other end, he gets touched and the whistle’s getting blown. We (were) frustrated. We (were) very frustrated.”

Funny enough, George immediately picked up a technical on Thursday night against the Memphis Grizzlies for complaining to the officials. The Pacers lost to the Grizzlies to fall to 0-2, so George’s season hasn’t gotten off to a great start.
