The Kevin Durant free agency saga will be one of the biggest storylines of the next year, with plenty of teams having a ton of cap space to make a run at the 2014 NBA MVP. However, many NBA executives believe Durant will ultimately re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to CBS Sports’ Ken Berger.
This was based on an “informal poll” of executives at Summer League and doesn’t mean all that much, but it just gives an idea of what people around the league think will happen with Durant. Him sticking with a loaded Thunder team makes the most sense, but perhaps he explores other options. Berger says the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards are possible destinations if he chooses to leave.
Durant will return to the floor after a trying year marred by multiple foot surgeries. He’s on track to be ready by the start of the year, and Oklahoma City is expected to be one of the top title contenders.
