Most Annoying Storylines Heading into the NBA Finals

With both conference finals finishing in five games or fewer, fans now have to endure a long layoff before the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers on June 4 at Oracle Arena.

Cue the media circus.

In the next week, you’ll be seeing plenty of ridiculous NBA-related articles and hot takes on your Twitter feed as bored viewers (both media members and fans) twiddle their thumbs looking for something to talk about.

Some of the discussion will be relevant to the basketball that’ll be played between two great teams starting next Thursday. But a lot of it has little to do with the Finals and is just annoying to take in.

To prepare for what’s to come, I’ve taken the liberty of compiling six key storylines that’ll undoubtedly surface, but aren’t worth your time and energy.

Steer clear of these narratives, if you can.

All statistics are from Basketball-Reference.comNBA.com and ESPN.com (including ESPN’s Hollinger Stats) and updated through May 29 unless otherwise indicated.
