The charges against the Morris twins stem from an incident on Jan. 24 at a recreation center in Phoenix. They’re two of five to be charged in the incident, which allegedly involved the assault of 36-year-old Erik Hood.
Hood alleges that he was attacked at Nina Mason Pulliam Recreation Center after a basketball tournament. He allegedly was struck in the head from behind by one of the men with the Morris twins, and when he tried to escape to his car, he fell to the ground and was repeatedly punched and kicked by the group of five men.
Hood told police that he has known the Morris twins since high school and acted as a mentor through college, although the Morris’s denied that. Police say the incident occurred because Hood sent “an inappropriate text message” to the mother of the Morris twins.
The Morris twins released a statement saying that they’d make no further statements about the case, and their agent, Leon Rose, is confident they’ll be cleared. Their first court appearance is May 7.
