With the playoffs about a month away, the Atlanta Hawks have been dealt a tough blow with news that key reserve power forward Mike Scott is expected to miss four-to-six weeks with a broken left big toe, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
Scott injured his toe in a 115-102 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night. If he misses the full six weeks, he’ll miss part of the postseason.
After showing some glimpses of potential in his rookie season, Scott, 26, became an important part of the Hawks’ rotation last season. That has continued this year, as he’s averaging 7.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game. He has turned himself into a solid three-point shooter with a 35.3 percent mark from deep.
With Scott on the shelf, the Hawks are going to sign Austin Daye to a 10-day contract to help with the frontcourt depth.
