Former Sacramento Kings head coach and recently hired Denver Nuggets head coach Mike Malone was given a raw deal by the Kings when he was unceremoniously fired early last season during a rough patch that featured DeMarcus Cousins missing time because of viral meningitis. One of the reasons Malone was fired was because of philosophical differences over style of play, and the new Nuggets coach fired a shot at the Kings on Sunday:
Mike Malone on coaching daughter's team: "Most fun I've had…knew owner wasn't going to fire me because I wasn't playing style he wanted."

That’s some smoking hot fire. And it’s awesome. And honestly, Malone might be better off that he’s out of Sacramento. The Kings are still a dysfunctional mess with all of the Cousins nonsense, although management insists there will be no trade. Vivek Ranadive still needs to prove he’s a competent owner, while Vlade Divac is a first-time NBA executive. There’s still a lot of work to be done.
The situation in Denver still needs some work as well, although at least management appears to be stable, so Malone has that going for him.
