Masai Ujiri Fined $35,000 for Using Expletive in Response to Paul Pierce

Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri quipped a few days ago that he didn’t have enough money to respond to Paul Pierce‘s recent comments about the Raptors not having “it,” and then Ujiri went out and proclaimed “We don’t give a s*** about ‘it!'” before his team opened the playoffs against the Washington Wizards on Saturday. It turns out Ujiri is going to have to give up some of that money he doesn’t have enough of, as the GM was fined $35,000 for the comment.

The league doled out the fine because Ujiri used “obscene language in a public setting.” This is the second straight year Ujiri has caused a stir like this after he yelled “F*** Brooklyn!” at a rally outside the Air Canada Centre before last season’s playoffs. He was fined $25,000 for that incident, and the penalty is even more this time, likely because he’s a repeat offender.

Pierce got the last laugh in Game 1, pouring in 20 points in a 93-86 overtime victory for Washington.
