By now, pretty much everybody knows what went down on Wednesday with DeAndre Jordan. There was basically a Los Angeles Clippers party at Jordan’s house as they waited for the moratorium to end so he could officially renege on his deal with the Dallas Mavericks and re-sign with the Clippers. All the while, Jordan refused to talk to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
Well, Cuban shed some light on what happened the few days before that fateful Wednesday:

So Jordan was supposedly on a date Tuesday and wanted little part of talking to Cuban. Who knows if Jordan was actually on a date (J.J. Redick says Jordan was out to dinner with Blake Griffin), although if he was, he obviously used it as an excuse to not talk to Cuban. The part about Cubes offering to make the date more fun was certainly amusing, but I certainly understand why he did it. He was desperate, although not desperate enough to camp out at Jordan’s house.
At this point, it’s pretty obvious that Jordan didn’t handle this situation well at all. He had every right to change his mind, but essentially “ghosting” the Mavericks and screwing up their offseason while putting on the whole Wednesday charade was a bad look.
