Kings Void Luc Mbah a Moute’s Contract

The Sacramento Kings signed Luc Mbah a Moute on July 14, but the team announced Thursday that Mbah a Moute’s contract has been voided after he failed a physical.

Mbah a Moute played 67 games for the Philadelphia 76ers last year, starting in 61 of them and averaging 9.9 points (a career high) and 4.9 rebounds, although he shot just 39.5 percent overall. A big reason for that career-low shooting percentage was the fact that he started to take way more three-pointers. He’d never taken more than 0.6 three-pointers per game before last season, but he hoisted three three-pointers per game in 2014-15, connecting on just 30.7 percent of them.

Mbah a Moute had played for the Kings once before, appearing in nine games in 2013-14. He averaged 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 21.8 minutes per game before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Derrick Williams. Mbah a Moute was traded to the Sixers as part of the Kevin Love trade in August 2014.
