LSU sophomore big man Jarell Martin plans to enter the 2015 NBA Draft, according to Sheldon Mickles of The Advocate. Martin has reportedly already told LSU head coach Jonny Jones about his decision.
Martin enjoyed a strong season with the Tigers, averaging 16.9 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 50.9 percent from the field. Martin and fellow big man Jordan Mickey paired to form one of the most formidable frontcourts in the country.
But while LSU lost to N.C. State in the Round of 64 in this year’s NCAA Tournament, Martin had a productive game with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
DraftExpress currently has Martin projected as a late first-round pick in 2015. He’s a good athlete with a versatile offensive game, although he has to work on his shooting, post game and defense. There are also questions about whether he’s actually the 6’10 he’s listed at, as he has recently been measured shorter.
