LeBron James and Paul George Involved at Team USA Camp

For very different reasons, it would be understandable if neither LeBron James nor Paul George ever suited up again for Team USA. However, it appears both are keeping their options open:

James’ future has been up in the air, considering he’ll be halfway to 32 years old by next summer’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and with five straights Finals trips on his odometer, it might behoove him to skip the Games, especially with two gold medals already in his trophy case.

As for George, he doesn’t have any of that hardware, but was a question mark due to the gruesome knee injury he suffered in last year’s scrimmage with his Team USA teammates.

Their attendance doesn’t guarantee anything, it just keeps them in play, as, in the aftermath of failing to win gold in Athens in 2004, Jerry Colangelo’s current program is all about showing a commitment and being there every step of the way. Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski are not at the mercy of any one player (not even LeBron) to participate due to the incredibly deep pool of American basketball stars that will make the U.S. a heavy favorite to yet again bring home the gold.
