The San Antonio Spurs have been viewed as the favorite to land LaMarcus Aldridge if the star big man leaves the Portland Trail Blazers as expected, but is there a new front-runner for Aldridge? One report says yes:
Heard that LaMarcus Aldridge was leaning toward Lakers, a sign that their brand is not only back but never went away despite appearances.

That was soon followed up by this:
The Lakers are moving quickly, will meet with LaMarcus Aldridge immediately after free agency begins Tuesday at 9:01 pm.

Getting the first meeting is certainly a big plus, but all this doesn’t necessarily mean Aldridge is definitely going to Los Angeles. It could be just a leverage ploy, but it could also be legit as well. It would be interesting for the big man to head to a rebuilding Lakers team, although with D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle on board plus more cap space to come in the future, perhaps Aldridge can help lead the Purple and Gold back to glory.
There will be plenty of other teams in on Aldridge as well, including the Spurs…
Spurs coach Gregg Popovic, forward Tim Duncan & guard Tony Parker expected to attend LaMarcus Aldridge meeting, a source told Yahoo Sports.

…Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns. One somewhat surprising team will also get a meeting:
LaMarcus Aldridge plans to give the Raptors a meeting this week, sources tell RealGM. Aldridge has interest in TOR, which has max space.

Aldridge to Toronto is a major long shot, but it’s still a big deal for them to get a meeting. The Raptors are in a rather intriguing spot in free agency as they look to take the next step to being an elite team.
