Lakers, Knicks Both Lose in Gut-Wrenching Fashion

Noah K. Murray/USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks played in competitive contests on Wednesday night, with both games coming down to the wire. Unfortunately for the two big-market squads, they both lost in gut-wrenching fashion.

First, the Lakers had a chance to take the lead over the Orlando Magic late in the game, but a horrible isolation play drawn up for Lou Williams resulted in a brick, giving the Magic a chance to win it:

Nikola Vucevic clearly believes in magic.

Over in Charlotte, Carmelo Anthony also went iso and missed a chance to take the lead, and the Hornets had a chance to win the game:

Cody Zeller had just missed two free throws, so this was sweet redemption.

BUT WAIT, this one wasn’t over. Still 0.6 seconds left:

BUT WAIT AGAIN! The play was reviewed and called off. Absolutely brutal, but the fact that rookie Kristaps Porzingis buried that shot to begin with rocked, so there’s a silver lining here.
