As a member of not only the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, but the Basketball Hall of Fame as well, Lieberman is a basketball legend. She has ample experience with the men’s side of the game, having played in the USBL, a men’s league that began in the 1980s and lasted for over 20 years, and coached the Texas Legends of the NBA’s D-League (later becoming assistant GM), both of which were landmarks that made her the first woman to play alongside and coach men.
She also played and coached in the WNBA, including suiting up for the Detroit Shock at 50 years old back in 2008. Lieberman has also worked for various television networks covering the NBA, most recently as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s broadcast team.
Per the Bee’s report, an official announcement is expected next week.
