If you thought the Sacramento Kings couldn’t get any wackier, you thought wrong, as Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears reported Thursday night that Marshall Henderson has signed a camp deal with the team.
Henderson became a household name while playing at Mississippi thanks to his playing style and eccentric personality. His “Land Shark” celebration was well known throughout the country:
Henderson went undrafted in 2014 and played overseas this past season, including stints in Iraq, Qatar and Italy. The Kings and Houston Rockets both showed some interest in him last year, and now he’s finally in Sacramento fighting for a roster spot.
The Kings currently have 14 guaranteed contracts and one non-guaranteed deal on the roster, so if Henderson impresses in camp, he could very well make the team. Sacramento has been looking to add more shooting to the roster, and he’s a three-point gunner.
It really would be great if Henderson made the roster, just for entertainment purposes. The thought of a personality like Henderson in that locker room along with Rajon Rondo, DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl is amazing, so let’s all hope this happens.
