Kevin Durant Out Indefinitely with Foot Injury

The Oklahoma City Thunder received bad news on Thursday when Kevin Durant missed practice because of more soreness in his surgically repaired foot, and the news has gotten even worse:

Yeah, that’s not good:

Yeah, that’s really not good:

Welp.

Obviously if Durant is done for the season, that’s a death knell for any title chances for Oklahoma City. If the Thunder even get in the playoffs, the Golden State Warriors would almost certainly throttle a Durant-less squad, especially with Serge Ibaka’s knee problems. Making matters even worse is that Enes Kanter will miss Friday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks with an ankle injury.

The Thunder have had horrible injury luck the last few years since reaching the NBA Finals in 2012, with injuries to key players derailing title chances the last two seasons. It’s looking like it’s about to be a third, and next year is the last season before Durant hits free agency in 2016. With another season possibly down the drain, there’s sure to be plenty of chatter about the reigning MVP leaving Oklahoma City.
