In news that was expected but still great to hear, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is fully cleared to participate in training camp, Thunder general manager Sam Presti said Wednesday.
Durant has been rehabbing over the summer after undergoing a third surgery on his troublesome right foot. The injured foot limited the 2014 NBA MVP to just 27 games last season, although he still managed to average 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists on efficient shooting percentages.
With Durant and other key members of the Thunder hurting last season, the team missed the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference. But now with everybody apparently healthy, Oklahoma City will again be one of the favorites to win the title.
The Thunder will certainly be careful with Durant as he works his way back into game shape, and the team may watch his minutes this upcoming season after playing huge minutes his entire career. Oklahoma City has the depth and star power to limit Durant’s minutes, so it’d be smart to do so.
