New Orleans Pelicans center Kendrick Perkins is out indefinitely after suffering a right pectoral injury, the team announced Sunday. Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports the injury could keep Perkins out up to three months.
Perkins suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Pelicans’ loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. He played two minutes and had two points and an assist before leaving the game.
New Orleans signed Perkins to be the third center in the offseason, but the 30-year-old veteran was pressed into more duty than expected thanks to early injuries to Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca. Perkins even scored 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting in the opener against Golden State.
Asik and Ajinca are both back now, though, so this Perkins injury doesn’t mean all that much. It’s just yet another injury to add to the long list of them in New Orleans this season.
