John Wall Hits Game Winner…Sort of

The Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards had quite the skirmish on opening night. After Aaron Gordon spent the first half of the game making Twitter go banana by putting together almost a third of a SportsCenter Top-10, the Wizards clawed their way back into the geme.

Then, with a shade under 13 seconds left, John Wall did this:

Game over, right? Not quite, with almost 13 seconds a lot can happen. And something sort of bizarre kind of did. Specifically, this:

Goaltending for the go-ahead points?

Nope. It was not to be. The review said no goaltend. The Magic got the ball back, and Nikola Vucevic harmlessly clanked a shot off the rim. Wizards win.

And thus, we have our first replay controversy of the season. That didn’t take long.
