Joel Embiid Reportedly in Walking Boot for ‘Protective Reasons’

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Joel Embiid hasn’t played all season because of a stress fracture in his right foot, but it appeared the young big man was rounding back into form when he was videotaped throwing down a between-the-legs dunk prior to Friday night’s game against the Utah Jazz.

That makes this news rather strange (h/t to Liberty Ballers):

It seems odd that all of a sudden, Embiid is back in a walking boot. It very well could be for precautionary reasons, especially because the big man has had a history of injuries. Still, it doesn’t seem ideal at all, and it’s a situation to monitor. Hopefully it’s truly no big deal.
