It was revealed a month ago that Joel Embiid needed another surgery on his troublesome right foot, but weeks went by with no announcement of a successful surgery. That’s because there hasn’t been a surgery yet, although it’s expected to happen “in the near future,” according to John Gonzalez of CSN Philly.
Gonzalez reports the reason for the delay is that Embiid and his camp wanted a bit more time to review the injury and select a doctor, who has been picked. The youngster has finally come to terms on the decision to undergo surgery and isn’t having second thoughts. The 21-year-old also reached out to Kevin Durant, who underwent three foot surgeries this past year.
Embiid missed his entire rookie season with the foot injury after being selected by the Philadelphia 76ers third overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. He’s expected to miss his entire second season as well thanks to this surgery.
