The Chicago Bulls are already dealing with injuries to Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson, and now there’s a chance Jimmy Butler could miss some time. Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said Butler would undergo an MRI on Monday for a hyperextended left elbow.
Butler suffered the injury in the third quarter of the Bulls’ loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday after getting nailed by a hard screen by DeAndre Jordan. Chicago’s offense was already struggling with Butler in the lineup, and the offense tanked in the fourth quarter of the loss, as Nikola Mirotic was literally almost the only source of points in the final frame.
Butler has been dealing with some minor injuries for much of the season, including a shoulder injury right before the All-Star break. He has managed to effectively play through these injuries, and he’s having a career season in Chicago. The swingman is averaging 20.2 points and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 46.2 percent on the year.
