The Atlanta Hawks clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference thanks to their 99-86 victory over the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 106-98 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.
DeMarre Carroll and Paul Millsap both shot 8-of-12 for the 55-17 Hawks, who moved to 31-5 at Philips Arena on the season. Immediately upon clinching that No. 1 seed, the Hawks’ Twitter account was ready to celebrate:

The Hawks’ Twitter account is one of the best in the league, so give it a follow if you haven’t.
If the season ended today, Atlanta would face the Boston Celtics in the first round. However, the Nets are just a half-game back of the Celtics, and the win over the Cavaliers was huge for Brooklyn’s playoff chances. It’s going to be a fight to the finish for those last spots in the East, and the Hawks will just be chillin’ and waiting to see who nabs that No. 8 seed.
In other clinching news, the Toronto Raptors clinched the awful Atlantic Division thanks to a 94-83 victory over the dismal Los Angeles Lakers:

The Raptors got balanced scoring in the win, and their defense put forth a rare strong effort, although that could have just been a function of the Lakers’ poor play.
Toronto currently holds the No. 4 seed in the East, a full game behind the Chicago Bulls. The scuffling Raptors are in line to play the scuffling Washington Wizards in the first round of the postseason.
